Look up in the right hand corner of this website and see the search box?? That’s CSE and it’s part of Google Adsense. You set it up inside your Adsense account. And when they say “Custom” they mean custom. From the type and size of the search box to what websites it uses for search to where it displays the results; Everything is easily customized to your needs and desires.

The Power of CSE

I always set up CSE to only search my website, we don’t need the visitor going anywhere else! The results are also shown on my website for the exact same reason.

Now here is where the “POWER” of CSE comes in….. Your website visitor types in something they are looking for. An article, the name of a person or place or whatever… The request goes to Google. The Google spider comes back to your website and crawls it (or searches its own warehouse of data from its last visit to your website) and displays what it found.

When your visitor clicks on one of the results, they see the post or page while Google says “Hey, Look!! A page we need to look at and index again” The page goes into their recent memory banks, you get a little more Google Juice and the guest spends a little more time on your website. Everybody wins!!

Having Google Custom Search on your website, gives you another chance to have the page and the site indexed by the search engine spiders. Keeping them up to date and refreshing their memory that you are still here and still getting traffic. This helps in the SEO of your site.
