What Do We Mean By Inbound Marketing?

The old form of marketing was casting a net out far and wide.  Yellow pages, newspaper and maybe radio or TV.  Seeing how many customers you could bring in.  That’s Outbound Marketing.  You going out to get the business, working to bring them to you.  It is also pretty static as well as not easy to change for each form of media.

Inbound Marketing is the opposite. Using the power of Internet, you turn that around by being where the best customers are and allowing the customer to find you through social media, text marketing, websites, etc… Each form is easy to tailor the message to your prospects.  Making it personal.  Making them want to come to you.

Think of it Like This:

Social Media is combining Word of Mouth and The Internet.  You get to talk to people (prospects) and people get to talk to you.  They also get to talk to others about you.   Good or bad, they talk, others listen and you can respond.  All in real time.

Internet Marketing – This would include Websites, Blogs, Journals and Forums.  This gives you an opportunity to show people what you have to offer.  It’s like having the ability to have an ever changing electronic catalog or virtual showroom.

Organic Search is letting people who want what you offer, to find you naturally by combining what is said in social media with what you have told the Internet about you via blogs, websites, journals and forums.
